A great place to visit and suitable for all. The trails are fast and there aren't any nasty surprises. Technically, I would say it is easy but the climbing and distance make it a good trail to visit.

I rode here earlier this year to introduce my wife to trail centre riding while we were on a short break near Aviemore. It was easy enough to find after doing a bit of online research and the drive to get there was interesting if a little slow. The facilities are great and the staff very friendly and helpful (being happy to offer advice). We rode the blue trail together and my wife loved the flowing cruisy nature of the trail (and I enjoyed it too) then while she read her book and enjoyed the coffee and cakes back at the cafe I headed out on my own to ride the red route. It doesn't flow like the blue route but does give you the work out you'd be looking for in a red graded circuit with plenty of harder black graded features thrown in to test you (all with chicken lines if you want to avoid them). All in all a great wee centre that deserves success and is well worth a visit.

Good Points
The blue trail flows superbly well, the Coffee Still cafe has great eats and drinks with friendly staff with the pump track right outside for spectating. The whole place has a great, friendly feel.
Bad Points
A bit remote.

Fantastic trail centre for beginners all the way up to racers, not Fort Bill techy downhill but a great place to hone your skills or even start from the bottom and build up a passion for this great sport. Great news that the Scottish Enduro Series is coming to Glenlivet in June for the 3rd round in 2015. Season pass for car parking is well worth the money if you are a regular.

I love it, as it's Fast, Flowy and Fun. The 3F's just how I like it. The huge descent in my view is worth the slow climb. Jumps on the hillside are then followed by a rock garden (The Gully Plunge) and a series of jumps near the end (The Double Grinder) these features spices up the trail and makes sure you keep your concentration. The blue trail which you go out on to access the red, is a real roller coaster ride. The second half of the blue on which you return on after the red descent is a mixture of a short climb followed by a longer decent back to the hub.
All in all, Glenlivet is an outstanding new Trail Centre which is well worth a visit.

Good Points
-One long 6km plus decent that's guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
-Outstanding views.
-Nice range of TTF's (Technical Trail Features).
-Lovely Cafe which serves a brilliant range of food from soup to burgers.
-Bike hire
-Cafe has suitable spares eg. (tyres, inner-tubes, lubricant, multitools, pumps)
-Up to date Facebook page which tells you if there is snow on the trails and if the hub is open. (This is Scotland and the trails go 500m+)
-Great for all the family since there is a blue trail to suit all.

Bad Points
-Relatively long climb
-Trails could be muddy/wet if there has been a prolonged wet season.
-If you like trails to be full on, one challenge after the other, this isn't for you; it really is an all polished up MTB Trails Centre

Unthinkable the blue family trail might be a little too tough for the kids so more return to base shortcuts would be good

User Review

Good Points
Plenty to entertain
Good flow and black sections can be demanding if you want them.
Bad Points
Signage posts around red could do with increasing frequency with a numbering system to pinpoint you if broken down or injury

A couple of black sections might catch you out on your first time

Good Points
Start and finish the red route on nice flowing quick down hill. The trails are well maintained and the 'coffee still' café at the car park has very helpful and friendly staff.
Bad Points
If you're looking for jumps and air time then this isn't the place at the mo. I think some of the trails could be enhanced with some 'north shore' platforms

I can understand a lot of effort has went into all the trails on the Estate but there is so much potential here especially with the gradient. The decents arn't the fastest except the first one down from the top of red as they are built on a diagonal course rather than straight down which would be good for downhill features. Have a look at Bike Park Wales for an example plus they pull in a lot of money and are always very busy, you have all the right ingredients to be even better than them and could be the best in the U.K.

Staying on site would be a bonus. A camping area would be good even if it was within a few miles of the centre.

User Review

Good Points
The trail centre has plenty of parking on site and the staff are always welcoming.
The trails themselves have enough features to keep riders of all skills happy and the pump track is a great way to get warmed up before you start.
I had a need for some technical help with my bike on the last visit and the staff were more than happy to help.
The cafe menu is varied and well priced with a good slab of cake available too.
Bad Points
None really, it's a pity the trails are an hour and a half from home but that's the price you pay for living in Aberdeen.

Great place to spend the day on your mountain bike, love the fast trails on the red route and the odd jump and obstacle thrown in, brilliant! Nice little flowing section at the start to get you going. Good food at the cafe afterwards too. I've been to many trail centres and this is definitely my favourite! All the Methlick Cycle Challenge guys love it.
