The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre run by Forestry England working with the Dean Trail Volunteers (DTV) has embarked on a major project to revamp the Freeminers (red) trail.
It is a long-term project which will take a while to complete so expect diversions.
Expect a new route, focusing on removing old sections which are outdated and hard to maintain, and instead, there will be major improvements to existing sections of trail, as well as building some brand new bits.
The aim is to create a route which is fun and exciting to ride, for those looking for the challenge of a red-graded trail.
If you'd like to get involved with DTV, you can help out with all areas of their work, whether it's digging, table sales or litter picking. You can even volunteer from home! Find out more: http://dtv.eventbrite.com
