I have ridden trails throughout Europe and North Africa and have been riding in these forests and on these trails for over 40 years and still enjoy it and most importantly I can still find new routes in and around the park. We have a vast array of off road tracks. For those who comment that The Kitchener Trail is not a 'true red' well just ride it faster, enjoy the trees and don't forget it is almost all singletrack. Come and enjoy it for what it is, pay your car parking and help to keep and improve the facilities.

Good Points
<div>Variety - anyone can ride here and enjoy it. If it becomes to easy then just go quicker. No matter how busy the car park is the trails are never crowded</div>
Bad Points
<div>Not a bad point, but it lacks real technical trails- not a criticism just a general comment, but it does make best use of the terrain available.</div>

Good Points
Its a really easy trail young children would be able to ride all the trail safely its really good condition trails fast and has good flow love all the signs like western front ect.
Bad Points
£6 pounds for all day parking £4 for 2 hours is extremely steep especially if you have travelled a good distance to come. The café expect you to leave your bike out of eye view as most mountain bikes are 3 or 4 grand doubt many would do that.

Sherwood Pines is both great fun and quite dull. The XC loop alone is very flat, and nothing too exciting on it's own - it's more of an "exercisey" loop than a "fun" loop, though as with most things, if you go flat out you can make things interesting. :)

Some sections of the XC loop feel extremely well surfaced, but it definitely suffers in the wet. There are various bits that get very very muddy, and some of the puddles are more like lakes at times. It's tolerable in the wet, but if you have the chance wait until it dries out, do.

What makes Sherwood Pines awesome, however, is the dirt jump area and the freeride park. They have a small but decent selection of dirt jumps, both small and rollable and some pretty big ones, but the highlight is the freeride park. They've very recently rebuilt the top section of it and it rides brilliantly. I probably wouldn't suggest it for absolute beginners, but if you pick the right line there's certainly nothing too scary and you can roll most of it. But if you hit it at speed, and you can get a heck of a lot of speed on it, it's awesome fun to ride over and over again, and there's plenty of stuff to session and build your skill up on. Lower down the hill there's a small selection of jumps and so on which you can hit - they're scattered all over the place with no real route over them so you can make up a line yourself.

Finally, there's the usual facilities at the trail head - bike shop w/ bike hire, a cafe, and toilets. The cafe has some pretty tasty cake too. ;)

Overall, Sherwood Pines isn't anything too special, but if you're within an hour's drive of it, it's worth a visit, and if you're passing by and have a few hours to kill, give it a visit.

Good Points
Decent XC loop, fun dirt jump area, excellent freeride park, and decent facilities.
Bad Points
XC loop is pretty simple, and the dirt jump area isn't small, but it's not exactly huge or varied either. Very patchy phone coverage at the trail head (on both EE and O2).

Good Points
It's not the longest or most difficult riding you'll do if you're a seasoned mtber. But it has potential to put a huge grin on your face. With no significant hills it's very pedally, that's not a bad thing. You'll get out what you put in.
Spin those cranks up to warp factor 9 and you'll enjoy the flowey kitchener trail as it twist it's way through the forest. Drains really well so it's possible to ride it all year round. A below par downhill line and a progressive jump area are just off the main trail. Miles of alternative tracks off the kitchener trail mean you could spend hours connecting your route together. A great place for newcomers to improve trail riding skills. Excellent facilities cafe/bike hire.
Bad Points
Only 13km main trail. Expensive parking on bank holidays.

Well enjoyed this (hard tail xc). Was quite puddley after previous days rain but this added to the fun! have read complaints about having to pedal a lot and not much downhill but to be honest you need to enjoy it for what it is. I actually enjoy pedalling my bike! You can develop your basic xc speed here without too many frights, although the odd tree comes quick after a fast bend. I did the (blue) Verderers in the Forest of Dean which to be honest is far steeper and I guess more "exhilarating" but each ride I find has a quality of its own, this one allows you to burst through the forest!

Ok so the first thing you need to know about the Kitchener Trail (red trail) is that it is an XC loop red and not a "Trail Centre Red". It is graded as a red because compared to the Green and Blue tracks they have, it is progressively more difficult. You have to know that it is a family orientated centre, so don't expect to be thrashing long decents and killer climbs! The area they have built the trail on is very flat but the trail builders have done a fantastic job in my opinion of the little contours there are.

The XC Loop itself is fairly mundane compared to say Cannock, Cwmcarn, or Gelntress and requires pedalling for 80% of it, so you will need to be energised for a round!. But there are some exciting sections which can bring your speed up fairly quickly. The best part about the trail, and the reason why i continue to ride it, is the bike park section roughly two thirds of the way round. During the winter of 2012 they worked on the section and I have ridden it new in 2013. There are at least 10 different route combinations you can take down the park, each with drops beween curb height and 2 foot, and swooping berms/corners.There are also a few rock sections on which a HT would suffer greatly! Each run takes around 1 minute on average and they all lead to the push up track which only takes 5 minutes to do.
There is also a Dirt Jump area with 5 sets of really well progressed jumps. It's fairly popular with DJ bikes and BMXs but is fun to ride on a Mountain bike too.

Recently (start of 2013) there has been a fair level of work put into the track itself to aid water run off and general conditions. I noticed a number of sections that used to be mud baths, transformed into hardpack trail with good drainage. There are a handful puddles/mud sections that seem to never disappear but I'm sure they will be sorted in due course and they only last for a few 10s of metres.

In terms of facilities there is a bike shop, cafe, toilets, jet wash, and picnic benches. They also have a 'Go Ape' activity centre for people not riding the trails. The bike shop does rentals and appears to be open all year round.

Overall I would certainly recommend the Kitchener trail to any level of mountain biker especially those just starting out. It's not a thrill seekers trail centre but it has been crafted well onto the given area. One thing I am yet to do is a night ride as the place is perfect for them! I believe Wednesday night is the unofficial day for them so I will have to get there some point soon with my new lights!

- Good facilities.
- Ridable for any level of mountain biker.
- Excellent bike park section.
- Perfect for night rides.
- Bike shop with rental.
- Family orientated.
Bad Points
- No 'death grip' decents as the land does not provide the contours.

Was recommended this route by other mtb'ers who have been visiting sherwood pines for years. Good recommendation.

Good Points
Recently stayed at Center Parcs Sherwood Forest and decided to give Sherwood Pines a go for the first time wiht my brother. Have a 'Scott Genius 750' and although I've taken it off road, I hadn't yet had the chance to take it on a good mtb run due to priorities. I will say it was a good, just shy of a couple hours of fun. Ran the Kitchener and I would say as a beginner, I did just fine. Gave it what I could but feel next time I'll take it even faster.
Bad Points
Nothing really bad to say, but maybe that's due to it being my first time running the route.

Good Points
i went and had a ride here while visiting the inlaws, I had read that it was not to technical or challenging, but it is great fun, and you get out of it what you put in.

I had a great time riding two loops of the Kitchener trail, once you are out out the car park area it did not feel busy at all and was good fun riding in the woods.

Bad Points
None really, good fun place with good facilities.
