Good Points
QECP has been extensively reworked by local trail builders and have turned it from and outdated loop of mundane single track into a fun fast and flowy red graded route with many features along the way such as berms, jumps and switchbacks. Its mainly chalk with a mix of soil and so when dry its fast and grippy but not quite so good when wet on the chalkier sections. But then thats what is great about QE its not just perfectly surfaced trails that don't have and features. Its got lots of roots which in places can be tricky to ride fast especially in the wet. But then thats what makes a great trail?! You want it to be challenged and if you can ride QE in the wet then in the dry and at other trails you will be much faster.

The red trail really does give you a great workout and allows you to enjoying riding. The 1st climb is hard but as you ride the red route its made worthwhile with lots of single track as a reward.
As QECP sits in the South Downs and has the South Downs Way run straight through the park is very easy to link up with other local trails that surround QE and branch off from the South Downs Way.
In all its a great red route thats definitely worth a couple of laps and its also worth exploring around the local area to make a days riding.
QE also offers a great cafe that is perfect after a days riding. Car parking is well priced at £2 a day and there its lots of space.

The future looks bright for QE as the passionate trail builders are really making some excellent progress and they are even holding Enduro and DH races in 2013. With this enthusiastic group pushing progress QE park will be getting more popular and has the potential to offer the best riding in the South!! Well worth a look around. Ride On!!
Bad Points
No Bike wash..yet. Can be a little slippery in the winter due to the mix of a little mud and chalk. But embrace the sloppiness and you will become a better rider and come summer time your speed will benefit!

Overall a good bike trail set in an area sparsely populated with good built hilly mountainbiking trails.

User Review

Good Points
Went for some trail mountain biking. Would thorougly recommend it if its dry like today.

There are two trails there:
-A nice blue with some reasonably gentle climbing and some good quick flowy downhill, just about looked doable for those riders on non suspension bikes.
-A tricky red (was probably a bit tired by this point!) with some quite tricky climbing at times and some tricky but good downhill (about right for a red trail), good features being added.

Trails were well maintained when I went but due to soil being chalky, would be slippery when wet.

Good cafe and all day parking was a very reasonable £3.50 to top it off.
Bad Points
There are only two built trails here and may not satisfy all mountain bike taste (but does link in to the south downs way so lots of other riding available and there seems like massive scope for the place to expand and build new trail!)

Been riding here almost 30 years and the place is getting better and better all the time lately due to the trail building collective always adding new features on the red run and extending the blue run and adding new features to it too
Bad Points
A pain when very wet the chalky ground gets very slippery

Much has been said of late about the new sections of trail at the QECP so we thought we’d pay it a visit.

So 6 of us made the 80 mile journey to QECP yesterday frankly not expecting too much.

We’d heard of the MBR Award for the Blue trail which sounded fun, but we had also heard that the Red trail was very very sketchy in the wet. Well as you’ll see from the video, we are obviously pretty hardcore here in Wiltshire – or just used to the sticky mud!

In my opinion you can ride both trails in all conditions, but the Blue will definitely hold up better in the wet.

Don't dismiss it and when its dry it must a a real blast..

IN THE DRY THIS IS AN AWESOME PLACE TO RIDE , IN THE WET ITS SO SLIPPERY ON THE CHALK TRAILS BUT STILL THATS ALL PART OF THE FUN ;) . THE TRAIL SIGNS ARE A BIG PROBLEM , I FEEL THAT THEY ARE NOT DIRECTIONAL ENOUGH AND NOT ENOUGH OF THEM , SO NEW RIDERS TO THE AREA WILL OFTEN GO THE WRONG WAY UP OR DOWN A TRAIL . THE OTHER PROBLEM ARE DOG WALKERS ON THE BIKE TRAILS , BUT I THINK WITH BETTER SIGNS THIS COULD GET BETTER AND SAFER .

User Review

Good Points
THE TRAILS ARE WELL LOOKED AFTER BY THE TRAIL ALLIANCE .
Bad Points
TRAIL DIRECTIONAL SIGNS ARE BAD . WALKERS AND DOG WALKERS LIKE TO WALK THE BICYCLE TRAILS . PARKING IS EXPENSIVE £3.50 NOW FOR MORE THAN ONE HOUR .

Good Points
I guess this is technically the closest trail center to my current household. Doesn't really fill me with excitement I have to be honest - mainly use it to keep the phys levels up.

Only ridden the red multiple times which is pretty rooty and in the wet is pretty lethal, but then I do like the technical challenge of it.

Some nice descending berms and jumps, some pretty fast flowing parts in the dry. The last bit down into the car park has been revamped and is much better.

Very family orientated.
Bad Points
Gets ridiculously crazy muddy on the trails when wet. No places to rinse bike quickly afterwards.

I think they need to add some faster sections into the trail but then I am a bit of a speed freak.

Could do with more trails - I believe the blue is being developed though.

Is fast becoming a star attraction in the south. Lots of work has been done on the trails which now ride well. All the official trails are well sign posted. Lots of options to link trails with other local tracks. Good elevations for the south of England. Good cafe in the park. Lots of safe parking. On the South Downs Way if you riding the SDW allow some time to try the trials in the park. http://kingleyvalemountainbikers.ning.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/qecptrailbuilding if you want a local digger to show you the marked trails and the off piste unmarked routes.

The QECP Collective, will be hosting our own gravity enduro race on 21st July 2013! It is sure to be a banger with prizes including a holiday for two with Pure Mountains in Spain’s Sierra Nevada(http://www.puremountains.com/ ), a pair of Marzocchi forks, Dainese pads, Exempt Clothing T shirts and much more up for grabs. Chris Smith has already signed up for the race which will be held on brand new, purpose built singletrack.
Bad Points
No bike shop in the park. LBS is Petersfield a few miles away.
