It's my favourite place to ride, I'm there every weekend even though it's an hours drive. The variety of riding means I'll never get bored and the trails are fun whatever the weather is doing.

Good Points
Where do you start? The blue graded Verderers trail is an absolute blast, suitable for less confident or inexperienced riders as it gives them a taste of what trail riding is like, with a bit of a challenge thrown in. For more experienced riders, it's a fast flowing, grin inducing blast with loads of opportunities to get the tyres of the ground.
The red graded Freeminers has a more natural and technical feel, with a couple of stiff climbs and provides a good work out.
The DH tracks aren't especially long, but they're steep in places and offer different challenges whether on a trail bike or a full DH rig.
There are tons of off-piste trails too, where a guide or local knowledge is of great advantage.
The uplift service is well run, efficient and the drivers are very friendly, whilst the cafe offers great pies, burgers, cakes and really good coffee.
Bad Points
The queues can be quite long for the cafe at busy times and the toilet/shower facilities really could do with extending.

The trail volunteers work very hard to create these amazing trails suitable for all rider levels, the impact they make really does reward the riders that come to pedalabikeaway. I highly recommend this to all riders.

I rode here for the first time (properly) last week. Its not big, and its not got huge gradients, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in convenience. Not only is it easy to reach, but there are advantages to having short, fun trails, namely that you can improve your skills by riding the same stuff over and over. I did the Verderer in the morning (with red options) and the trail was great fun, hardly challenging, but the last DH on the verderer is one of the best I have ridden. Not too steep, and massive amounts of whoops and berms to really enjoy yourself on.

In the afternoon I used the excellent Fly Up uplift to session the DH runs. The main runs are well used, and maybe need some TLC, but they are challenging enough to keep you on your toes, and the ability to do a complete loop in around 20 mins means you can fly up (pun intended), ride down and then go straight back to fix that thing you got wrong last time. None of the trails need a full on DH bike, and one guy I was riding with was nailing it on a hardtail 29er. A great way to hone your skills for sure. Recommended for a day trip from central/southern england, but don't skimp on the uplift. There's just not enough to justify an XC visit on its own.

I would say though, the cafe is a little lacking in variety, and the showers/toilets arent the best, but no reason for that to put you off.

Good Points
Everything you need from hard core down hilling to trails to take the family out on and everything in between. There are also a lot of off piste trails just waiting to be explored too, and lots of friendly people to help you find them as well. The food is also top notch with burgers etc that would not be out of place in a top gastro pub, but without the high prices. If your looking for a centre that has it all, and quite a bit more, this is the one.
Bad Points
Car park can get busy, but no biggy

Good Points
2 cycle centres, 2000 miles of trails. From beginner to accomplished downhiller, Sunday rider to endur; FoD has everything you need.
Bad Points
Not enough investment from DC or local business who reap the rewards. Trails are reliant on donations and volunteers
