This is the Shimano Front Drive system incorporating the HollowTech II integrated crankarm and bottom bracket. Over the last few years I have had a couple of these (mainly killed by practising wheelies) and have been pretty impressed

Shimano XT M770 Hollowtech II crankset features a precision two-piece construction for chainline and chainwheel alignment and a carbon/steel composite middle ring for better shifting.

You need specific tools (as with all Bottom Brackets's) so dial that into your price and budget.

Good Points	Has been stiff (i.e. held well) and been responsive over a good amount of xc riding as well as a lot of playing in the dirt park and hence abuse the bike itself was not intended for and held well.
Bad Points	It's not intuitive to fix and there are few guidelines in the box (check out vids here for a guide).
