iBikeride.com will be supporting the Big Bike Bash (BBB) on the 22nd and 23rd August in the New Forest in Hampshire by providing a technical tent to provide the public and event entrants with advice and information on all manner of technical and mechanical advice. Supported and run by iBikeride.com members this event will see this friendly social mountain biking site expand its already extensive network. iBikeride.com will be joining others to make this event a special 2 day event to share, enjoy and take part in the many events on offer. The Big Bike Bash is an event that sees mountain biking return to its roots. Event organiser Nick Clarke says, "The BBB is an inclusive meeting of mountain bikers and their families both old and young. The principle aims are the sharing of knowledge and to encourage riders and non-riders alike to see how much fun you can have on a bike. There will be races of course but there will also be events for every level of rider from babies in tow-along trailers to advanced skills and stunts arenas." Along with Mountain biking events there will be a beer tent, supported by local brewers and an array of great local bands. BBB takes place over the weekend of 22 + 23 August 2009 in the New Forest at the Avon Tyrrell Activity centre. All profits will go the UK Youth Charity I met the BBB organiser Nick Clarke last week to learn about the event and how ibikeride.com could support this event. The event started 2 years ago as a birthday celebration when 20 mountain bikers turned up in response to an internet posted invite. Some where known to the organiser and some where "random". They camped in a garden and rode their bikes and was such a success that now the organiser have had to put a cap of 500 guests on the event. They have moved out of Nick's back garden and garage to the Avon Tyrell Activity centre. We are looking for volunteers to assist in running the tech tent along with iBikeride resident technical and mechanical expert Sparky. In addition to running the tent we need to provide volunteers to the organisers to assist in running the events as judges, marshals and gophers. The more volunteers the more events and "free" time each individuals will have. Dont miss out! Put this in your diary and commit some time for this worthy and fun event. Check out the iBikeride.com calendar for the event Click here to view other images of the planned site layout and other documents.

Folks it's getting closer and I'm guessing your holiday plans are more known and so we are looking to know who's around and able to sign up to the weekend and help man the iBikeRide tent 22-23 August 09 and so make the event great? The Big Bike Bash is whole weekend of riding events with a beer festival and music festival too. iBikeRide are manning a maintenance themed tent with our own Sparky handing out advice. It will be an opportunity to meet lots of new bikers, encourage kids into the sport, enter some events, spread the word about iBikeRide and have loads and loads of fun. http://www.bigbikebash.co.uk/

There will be 'proper' XC racing with a race whippet category for the 'seasoned rider' as you put it. There are some great prizes to win there as well. We are also thinking of a 'devil take the hindmost' short XC race where the last few riders get eliminated each lap which should promote some real race spirit. We are going to have a team competition if that interests you. 4 people to a team, compte as individuals in as many events as you like but for certain events you teams scorers are added up and the team with the highest score wins. Details to be confirmed.nnTickets haven't sold out yet but please buy yours soon to avoid disappointment.nnNight ride confirmed and sponsored so lots of nice lights to win.nnLooking good. Some friends of mine with their kids are joining too, Sparky is manning the Mr fix it tent (and doing some riding I'm sure) Mint is there with his family so I think it is going to be a really fun weekend be you with kids or not.nnFancy getting a team together? ....nhttp://www.bigbikebash.co.uk/ report abuse

The BBB is not just fo ra good cause but for a cuase that is focussed on the things important to us. It is an non-profit event with all profits donated to UK Youth http://www.ukyouth.org/, who is the leading national youth work charity supporting over 750,000 young people dedicated to raising their aspirations, realise their potential and have their achievements recognised via non-formal, accredited education programmes and activities. Nice..
Start talking to friends, families, get your ticket orders in (Rich how do we do that? On their site or here somehow?)
