Hi Dan,
yeah I took my BMX up there and to my amazement somebody else has been digging up there.
This is great news except that :
a) They cut through my lock to free my spade up
b) They then left the spade laying around in the middle of the clearing free for anyone to pick up.
c) The turned the second set of doubles into a SMALL table top. So this is totally topsy turvy now as you need to get some speed up to clear the first set then you're WAY too fast for the second.
BUT.... ignoring these facts is great to have other people up there enthusiastic and eager to ride and dig.
I hatched a plan last night, I think I'll put a sign up saying "Digging Day - 11th Aug 4pm" or something and see who turns up. Then plan the whole trails again from Scratch... so everyone gets what they want.
THEN when they're all done I'm going to concrete the lips of the take offs so they survive the kids/wet weather/heavy riders a bit better!
Be good when you're back in N. London, especially if we're to have a go in Queens Woods. Also, Coppetts Woods in Muswell Hill is crying out for some trails. It's got tons of free space.
That said I did ride and totally enjoyed it, the ground is baked hard now and is perfect for BMX, those little wheels just ROLL over the hard fast ground and it's so light you can twist and pull flat tables all day long!
