Wayne interesting I've heard there is really good riding in Germany..

I write this on my last evening away on my break. I am in a sweet cafe looking over the beach and sea. All a bit idylic and a little sad to becoming home which must be a sign of a good holiday. (WIFI is everywhere and free here)

Today's last ride was hosted by the Clyclenix club (http://www.cyclenix.com/) of Tel Aviv way. The IMBA Israel (Jack Reardon) hooked me up.

We set off at 5.45 this morning when a great new friend and rider Hylton picked me up and by 8.30 we were riding a 35k trail in the Carmel Mountains and forest next to Haifa overlooking the sea.

Lots of up and lots of down. The contrast to the Negev desert with rolling green hills was just as captivating. Rocky at times but sweet and flowing terrain overall. I can not do the ride justice in a forum post so I will blog in the next few days. Great club, great attitude. One of their riders David is 71 and Hylton is 60 (they will hate me for writing this) and they are not just wise and solid but great bikers and will seek to be an inspiration to me going forward for many years to come.

Loads of pics in Gallery trail section.

Laters..

My dad (Andy) and I arived at Swinley Forest today where the car park was spacious and free. We were expecting a fairly hard ride as described in the recent MBR aritcle. We set off on some good single track but were suprised to come across some other riders coming towards us and soon realised this is not a one directional route. We also felt the sections were to short, we would just get into somthing and then it would just stop so we had to keep looking for more thrills. Having cycled other trail centres we think that Swinley Forest was ok but could be better, perhaps making a one directional route and _link_ing up the shorter sections to create a continuous flow would help.

yeah made it to swinley.. nice dry day for it.. got a map and of i went.. after a few navigation problems, i found my way to the mountain bike area, and i must say it looks good...lots of runs all over the place, no big hills to climb but the single track is good even if the drops do come to an end a bit quick...now!! call me old fashioned but when i go down hill iam usually lookin at the terrain, braking points and so on..unfortunately all i found today were riders coming up as i was goin down .. i did stay for 4 hours and only got one run in where no one came up.. i will try swinley again but may be with a guide next time, iam in no way slagging this place off but for my frist time it was a bit of a bad experience...... the hot choc in the cafe was nice tho.... just get out and ride...
