went for a boxing day spin, with my riding bubby enduro,G round common and penn woods (high wycombe) did about 10-12 miles, good mix of bridleways and single track all sweet flowing, no big climgs but short and hard, all good for the turkey and beer gut..

Good man Tom. I got a couple of hours on Xmas day in the morning. Found some nice lines locally in Queens wood. A few fun natural drops (nothing to write home about). Biggest challenge is the wet and mud. Wood is just crying out for some decent spade work.

Had a good ride out in Epping Forest today. Started in High Beach and headed out to Almesbury Banks. I'd hear a lot about this area and looks great to ride but surrounded by "No MTB" signs. Oh well!. The holy grail still is to be found in my local woods

Some great singletrack afer this and in the mud it was great for cornering practice. Also some fun simple log jumps around (nothing to write home about mind)

Spent about 2.5 hours in the saddle and was a good ride.

Just had a great XC ride out in the Chilterns. Meant getting up at 7.00 and being out the house by 8 but well worth it. It started off at Nettlebed just close to Henley and it was more autumnal than winter for riding conditions.

in summary great singletrack and lots of muddy, rooty wooded tracks to get your teeth into. It was 54k and had some great climbs and descents. I navigated with the ordnance survey map and felt less reliant on a compass and more foucssed on natural features than before (the aim was to sharpen up my navigation skills). I had to bail in the last 5k as was getting dark and needed the safety of tarmac to get me home to ride another day. Darn these short days. All in all 54 kilometres in the saddle (with just a couple of diversions and 7 hours to complete. knackered but truly awesome. Will do a decent write up of the route as a trail feature in the next week. Recommend

Took to the gentle slopes and bombholes of Thetford with Tomtomks today to bed in my new Hope pink brakes (Christmas present from my wee one ) Found it to be much muddier than anticipated, but mangaged to stay in the saddle, although definately with a few near misses. Played around on the black run and in afew of the bombholes, again boggy in the pits, but always muchly fun on the Beast. Due to failing light, finished off with a quick dash round the red route. Much to our surprise, there is a new section near the start with some built up berms and baby northshore (just a taster really). Lovely surprise though, as this is going to be great for mini-me when she rides there next. On the whole lovely days ride, dry to start, finished wet...but still smiling all the way through. My 5 has forgiven me for not getting any miles recently. Incidently, did I mention my pink brakes (fitted by Tomtomks ) they look trick
