I have just overhauled the whole video service and have just launched phase 1.Hurrah!

The new service replaces the old service which was clumsy and required a bit too much effort. It has been removed form the system and your profiles.

The new service is accesible from the "Videos (Beta)" _link_ on the left hand nav bar. http://ibikeride.com/option,com_hwdvideoshare/Itemid,150/

The design has been completely overhauled and is clean, friendly and fun to use. . When you go in you will see 3 tabs

Videos

Categories

Upload

The first tab is "videos" which is 3 featured videos and the last ten posted videos.

You can watch videos and rate, comment and even add them to your favorites. Any you do add to your favorites you will now see in a new "Favorite Videos" tab in your Rider Profile page. As well of course as any videos you upload.

The second tab is Categories which split by

Bike skills

Bike surgery Maintenance

BMX

Competitions, Races

Dirt Parks

Downhill

Freeriding

General Biking

Kit, Bikes

Other Extreme Sports

Road

Trials

XC Trails

I am about 50% of the way through populating this with all the vids on the site so far and I look forward to seeing you lot grow this.

The third Tab is "Upload"
I have done two things here. First is made it a 100 times easier to _link_ to a third party video provider and secodnly increased the number of providers I _link_ to. If any other sites are reading and want to be added just get in touch. The providers are:

Ok.. go play and enjoy and all feedback is great. It's Beta so I am expecting bugs and all sorts.


The next phase is really exciting as iBikeRide starts to allow a simple and fun process to upload, tag and describe your videos. Different to all the others you will be able to _embed_ this content direct into your articles you post making the experience rich. This phase is complex and I have been working on it for months and it is keeping me up late at night so if there are any biking friendly (Joomla) developers out there ready to lend me a hand then please step forward. It's close mind.

Did some work on the service last night to improve the features that show much more video detail, a random video, the most popular video and the tags associated with the video which you can then click to browse and search other videos. You can also access your own videos and favourited videos from this page.

I also changed the colours as I hated the original colour scheme I had. Check it out

I have built and am trialing the upload bit at the moment. If you go to http://ibikeride.com/option,com_hwdvideoshare/Itemid,150/ you will see in the "Featured Videos" section ....4 new videos. These have all been uploaded from the website front end and been converted from iBikeride servers directly. They are then streamed from not third party providers (who iBikeride still love) but from iBikeride directly. Hurrah! Have a watch and let me know how you find the experience in terms of playback, voting, commenting and so on.

If you fancy uploading yourself then please feel free. Just a few things to be aware of
1) keep it to under 25mb. The full launch limit will be 100mb.
2) It might take up to 24 hours to get it uploaded onto the site. This will be automated nearer launch so there will be a 15 - 20 minute wait on average....but for now I have to press a big red switch that flashes for it to happen. If I am online it will mostly be much quick so check back. If I am not online you may need to wait. But do play t'is lots of fun.
