Pua Sawicki gives her Mountain Bike Tips on Nutrition. I do wonder if she was a tad hungry when filming this, as there is lots of mention of Pua's favourites like peanut butter, bagels, bananas and granola (I think that's muesli! by the way) but still loads of useful stuff and it's around not unsurprisingly carbs, carbs and more carbs.
Not always possible but best to eat around 2- 3 hours before riding to allow the food to digest and not weigh you down.
Focus on carbohydrates like bananas, bagels, granola and so on. You know your body best so take what you like from this food group.
Again best to warm up and hour before riding (or more realistically during the first hour of your ride) take an energy drink during this time
During your ride sip on water regularly (rather than one mad gulp when parched). A good guide is one bottle an hour.
T'is Good to take both water and energy drink s seperately as the energy drink can taste sickly after a while and put you off drinking at all. Not Good! Also a clean bottle of water is useful for cleaning any potential cuts of grazes.
Refuel soon after riding to maximise energy store replacement in your muscles for the next day
