Monique "Pua" Sawicki is a professional mountain biker and previous NORBA National Series Champion, Marathon. Here she gives some tips on descending downhill

  • Keep your weight back. The steeper it is the further back your weight should be
  • Keep your pedals even and horizontal to maximise balance
  • Let your front wheel roll. It's why you have suspension and knobbly tyres
  • Keep off your brakes. Control your braking feathering them where necessary but remember your front brake is the one that sops you. A 60/40 ration of strength from front to back brake power proportionally.
