Barnado's Campaign

I read today that Barnardo's has launched a new campaign to highlight what it calls "disturbing intolerance" of children. It appears we have created an unwelcoming society for children!

"As a society we have created a climate where children are made to feel unwelcome in public spaces and where we have become fearful of them on the streets" Barnados. The word "feral" is used to describe them in this report. That is very sad.

New Lights

Took delivery of my new light last week. Exposure Maxx-Daddy.

These are very powerful 4 LED lights. Best thing I like is the fact they are fully self contained and come with a handlebar clamp mount which allows quick and easy mounting on the bikes.

I hadconsidered the Hope 4 LED - it is slightly cheaper and after riding with a friend last week I can see thatit gives similar light output.

Winter returns with a vengeance!!

It was my caving club annual dinner (i.e. piss-up) last weekend and we had arranged for a beginners MTB ride on the Sunday morning to visit Stock hill woods on top of Mendip.

A week in North Wales

I just spent last week in North Wales.

We hired a cottage from the National Trust (prices come down out of season) which was only a couple of miles from Coed-y-Brenin.

Weather was mixed for the week as were our plans - we did some walking, gear shopping (all that shiny kit ;-) and mountain biking.

Two dry weekends in a row and been out on both.

Weekend before we took out road bikes out for a spin round Bristol on the regional route 10 (we live a couple of miles from this). 9am, sunshine and an empty car park.

Today I dragged Tom off to Epping for a blast around to show him some the single track and fun places over the last few months that I have been unearthing.

Despite the sunshine, there was a slight nip to the early morning air, so our pace was good from the outset. I initially took Tom over to show him Loughton Camp. We only looked briefly as we were both eager to find some sweet single track.

At last some dry weather, so our regular wednesday night ride through Rowberrow up onto Blackdown (Mendips) was a blast - dry fast tracks for a change.
