Oryx - An Icon In Bike Design

Oryx time trial sex bomb. An innovative idea and totally new approach to the bike design. It is sexy, beautiful, futuristic, slim, ultrasonic, predatory black, shiny, and you have to jump into tights to ride it :) This piece of art makes you to desire, just to touch it and feel it.

The designer of this beauty is Harald Cramer

and ORYX design won him a $1,000 scholarship from the 2007 Dimension 3D Printing Group Extreme Redesign Contest.

The bike is made of carbon fibre composite. The frame has been designed to be shock absorbing to improve traction and comfort - if we can talk about any comfort in time trial bikes (this isn't the factor that counts there) Cranks and chain ring integrated into the frame to improve aerodynamics includes an enclosure for the chain to reduce risk of injuries. Chain set is supported by two large diameter bearings

The handlebar and fork are made of one piece of composite with all cables running through them (inside). Handlebars connect to frame via a pivot.

One sided fork and chain-stay reducing weight. Cramer's concept also finds a solution to the challenge of changing tires. The bike comes with two sets of wheels as standard. One push of a button makes it possible to easily take the wheel off and replace it whit another one and cut down the repair time and hassle.

Ergonomic saddle is an integral part of the frame. Each bike is custom-made what guaranties the perfect fit for particular rider.

Don't you think they have something in common?

If I look at my monster on 3" tyres standing next to me and somehow try to compare it :) it would be like Hummer next to F1 bolide. Both, from completely different planets.

Unfortunately or fortunately :) there is no mention about price of Oryx. Could not find any more specs for it so far, i.e. weight. If anyone has some more technical details please post.
