Went for a ride at Swinley Forest ( http://www.gorrick.com/swinley/ ) and decided to try getting there by train.

So woke up at 08:30 got dressed in my riding gear packed my bag with the neceserry flapjacks and bananas along with any spare tools, innertubes etc I might need for a typical days riding. Left the flat (in Blackheath area) and rode to Lewisham to meet my mate Mark on the 09:27 from Lewisham into

Desert Riding, Negev, Israel

stumpy_dan Published in xcSinainew bikeNegevIsraelibikerideHoliday by stumpy_dan | Comment (0)

Today was a great day:). First real taste of desert riding! I rode a Mongoose with a shorter stem than my stumpjumper and I preferred it as it gave more cornering control. It actually a cool bike that is loads of fun. I might do a seperate write up on it.

Right me bag is packed and I'm ready to go;) Hurrah!!! As you may or may not know by now I am off for ten days to do some desert riding in Eilat and the Sinai between Israel and Jordan. My guide Eyal has been recommended by Jack Sheardon who runs the IMBA (International Mountain Biking association in Israel).

I arrive in Tel Aviv tomorrow and fly down to Eilat on Friday ready to do a desert trail ride on the Saturday followed by some downhilling on Sunday and then again

swimming_a_mtb_cross_training.jpg

We all want to get out and ride, that's why we keep checking out all the skills, thrills, tips and tricks on this site. But sometimes when we can't manage to get out on our wheels an alternative is required.

While running and weight training aid to give strength and stamina for cyclists, regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to your

I was sitting in a cafe this morning with my full carb breakfast feeling a little bit worse for wear after last night New Year's eve festivities;)

I had picked up the latest MBR (Mountain Bike Rider) magazine in my post this morning and had it with me, looking forward to reading it over brunch.

Flicking through,

New bike take 2

penfolduk Published in treknew bike by penfolduk | Comment (2)

As some of you are probably aware I had a Gary Fisher Hifi Deluxe (07) on order from Evans.  However there was a problem with the forks, don't ask me how they manage to damage a set of fork when transporting it from one store to the warehouse!

Anyway I just went into Evans to try and sort it all out and ended up walking out of there with a Trek Top Fuel 8 (07) for the misely sum of £1000 instead of £1600rrp

Always Best To Get Out And Ride

stumpy_dan Published in trackstandscornerscommutingbunnyhops by stumpy_dan | Comment (3)

Over the last 7 years one of the key ingredients to surviving the physical endurance of the weekend riding frenzy that forces me to steal most daylight hours on a saddle (well once I have surfaced that is;).....is the daily commute on my bike to work.

As I work for myself my clients can be all over and outside London. So sometimes my commute is 10 miles, sometimes 5 and sometimes more.
The journey in is a key opportunity

Gravil Pit Spring The Fifty

I wrote to the Newhall guys again asking what they were planning on using the pland for as they had refused the request to turn it into a bike park..

Their response below gives me more hope in the sense that I now have a new contact the "Residents Association" to negotiate with.  I will see  if people who actually live on the estate can give me a better introduction into the residency association as it is formed
