Alpine Bikes sign up as World Cup partner

Alpine Bikes, Scotland’s largest independent bike retailer, will be the Official Retail Partner of the World Cup this year.

As part of the deal, they will manage the Alpine Bike Park for spectators who ride to the event as well as providing on-site servicing support and advice in the midst of all the racing action. This is a great service for the many thousands of visitors and helps to promote a sustainable transport option for the World Cup. The cycleway from Fort William to the World Cup Village, a legacy of the World Championships, is now fully bedded-in and is expected to be heavily used during the World Cup weekend.

Alpine Bikes are also planning some special clinics in the Forestry Commission Skills Loop. Look out for further details.

MTBCut go live at Fort William

When you’ve got courses spread out over 8km (Cross Country) and 2.5km (Downhill), the giant screen becomes a pretty important focal point for everyone in the finish arena.

One of the exciting new innovations at Fort William this year, is a live MTBCut studio beside the podium that will deliver all of the on-screen entertainment. As well as coverage of the action from the races, there will be a constant mix of rider interviews, competitions, pre-race punditry, chats with fans, competitions, information on what’s happening and where, plus clips from the latest action movies.
MTBCut, is the UK’s specialist online mountain bike channel, brought to you by World Cup rider Stu Thomson and former Clan DH Team manager, Richard Thomson.

Watch out for more news on the MTBCut studio and a very special promo trailer for the World Cup, coming your way soon.

The MTBCut 2008 team will  consist of Scottish Champion and top Elite NPS rider Joe Barnes and last years Juvenile NPS silver medallist Lew Buchanan, plus Stu Thomson (MTBCut boss, cameraman, editor, producer, director, interviewer etc).  Unmissable in pink Oranges.

The only way in the Village

The World Cup Village is the buzzing hub of all the action at Fort William. Alongside the finish arena, giant screen and trials comp are the Expo and Tech areas. This is where you’ll find all the teams, with their impressive support vehicles, sponsors and traders that bring the event to life.

If your company wants to be part of the action and reach the 20,000 plus who will be in the Village over the weekend, get in touch or download details on the website.
