30th April 2008. Source CTC The Spring CTC and Cycle Campaign Network conference on 10th May is the place to come and find out more about the future of cycle campaigning. It’s also a chance to learn the tactics of successful cycle campaigns and meet other people who are passionate about creating a cycling culture here in the UK.

Join the Guardian’s Matt Seaton, the Chair of Cycling England Philip Darnton, Chief Executive of the London Cycling Campaign Koy Thomson, CTC’s Policy Coordinator Chris Peck, CTC Right to Ride rep and member of Sheffield Cycle Campaign Simon Geller, Coordinator of Cambridge Cycling Campaign Martin Lucas-Smith and MP for Cambridge David Howarth to discuss the future of cycling in the UK.

Cambridge has the highest rate of cycling in the UK, as over 25% of journeys to work are made by bike.  The conference will examine what has made Cambridge a successful cycling city and the plans to get even more people travelling by bike. Cambridge Cycle Campaign will launch their 2020 vision for the city and will give all delegates a copy of the 36 page colour brochure, which will be of practical use to people outside Cambridge.

The conference includes practical workshop sessions on marketing, online mapping, using the media and recruiting new members. There will also be social rides and events from Friday 9th May through to Sunday 11th May.

CTC’s Cycling Development Officer – Local Campaigns Debra Rolfe said:”We would all like there to be more cyclists where we live and this conference offers help, advice and the magic ingredient of inspiration, so we can turn our dreams of a cycling culture into a reality”.

CTC/CCN spring conference 2008 ‘Creating a Cycling Culture’ hosted by CTC, CCC and CCN is at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences on Saturday 10th May from 10.00 – 16.00. Tickets are £16. For the latest details and to book online visit: http://www.camcycle.org.uk/events/conferences/cambridge2008/.
