We are pleased to announce that we are now a CTC member group. What is more, we are the first “off-road”, CTC backed group and with a view to growing this side of their organisation the CTC are very keen to help us develop Aston Hill’s facilities for the future.

Over the next week we shall publish the names…possibly even the faces of the new Aston Hill committee.

To ride at Aston Hill you can either, “Arrive and Ride”, at a cost of £5.00 per day or alternatively become a member of the CTC. For an adult this is only £35.00 per year. For those applying for CTC membership online could you please put ASTON HILL RIDER in the box that requests information on how you heard about the CTC.

Forms will be available from the Aston Hill should you prefer not to use the online option. A full list of CTC membership fees can be found at www.ctc.org.uk

A number of questions were raised at the meeting regarding trail building. Firstly we should state that illegal trail building will not be tolerated. The process of modifying or building trails needs to be conducted in conjunction with Forestry Commission, insurance and Health and Safety guidelines. Failure to do so would impact negatively on the future of Aston Hill.

Later this year the Forestry Commission will be undertaking felling work on the “Hill”. At present we believe this will cause little disruption to the existing trails. At the same time we believe there is little point in planning any new trails until this work has been undertaken. The matter of modifications to downhill and XC trails was raised in the meeting and will be addressed over the future months.

On a last note, the current operating times for Aston Hill have been clearly published on this site. As past requests not to ride the “Hill”, have been ignored we are unfortunately resigned to the fact that this will continue. The short sighted behaviour of this few will impact significantly on the relationship we have been working to develop with our supporting partners, the CTC and Forestry Commission. If you know of or see (in passing) and one riding Aston Hill outside designated hours please let us know.

Finally our thanks goes out to everyone who attended Mondays meeting. Here’s hoping for a good summer so we can all Ride Aston Hill"
