Yep,I actually have two.I got the Scott genius 50,first addition came without disk breaks and I rode it happily for nearly 3 years, with all the problems of trail riding a light weight bike.2 Rear shock's replaced by Scott, cracked swingarm replaced by Scott and (two bottom brackets at my own expense),Which i class as unusual. But then i ride quite a bit over the same period I've replaced the cluster twice, free wheel hub,3 chains, middle chain ring,All the bearings,4 or 5 cables and plenty of spokes.Luckily i do all my own servicing.

.At the end of last year i got the '06 Genius 30,second-hand(probably ridden 3 times) at an incredible price. Not having the heart to give away the MC 50,I kept it.
So now my wife and daughter get to ride it.
I'm enjoying the MC30 it IS A Medium _frame_ where the mc50 was a small,i should have got a medium off the bat but the shop assistant knew better. The Fox Tallas front shock is great and what a pleasure with disk's.The new XT bottem bracket system seems better.I don't do the single tracks as regularly so it is getting less of a bashing.
So now I'm a bit of a Scott GENIUS Fundie.

Wow , that sounds like bad luck or careless behaviour .
what do you think it was?
My first free service is comming up and i want to get a few more good rides in before then.
i saw a TV program last night 2 guys toured Swiss and Italian ski slopes in summer.
One had a Scott Genius 10 and the other a Scott Gambler. Brilliant stuff but they went through brake pads at a rate of a set a day.
My blog and trail map has stalled as i am on a training course this week i will hopefully get to it soon.

Scott have had a few problems with the earier rear shock that seems to have been sorted ,although they now advise a regular service on the shock.
Likewise the swingarm is prone to cracking just in front of the dropout.Heard of 5 0r 6 such breaks.I waited over 9 months for a replacment, fortunatlly i got to repair and use the existing one untill the replacment part arrived.
The down tube has been a weekpoint with heavy riders and I know two riders both over 100kgs who both cracked their _frame_s above the waterbottle cage on the down tube.My cycling buddy after cracking and rewelding the _frame_ on 3 occassions(scott mc 40) has moved to a Specialissed brand bike .
The Shimano hollow-tech BB's are just week, not surprissing it got swopped out in the latter moddles.
The south african testing ground for cross country bikes is the Cape Epic and the genius did not rate well by the competitors.
But at the end of the day the rear lock out aplication really suits my riddong _style_,and i'm happy with it.
Have a nice day,the suns out and i'll have a nice ride up the berg later.

Cheers Howard.
Enjoy your ride.
this may sound thick but i have never know what the swing arm is. is it the rear support that goes from rear axle to connect abover the bottom bracket?
