yo! iam tomtomks (tom) am from westcliff on sea essex, where there are no hills!! iva been into mountain biking for about 10 years, most of it on the xc side, long days out putting in the miles.. from dorset, south-downs, thetford, bedgebury, and epping.. all on a trek vrx 200. at the end of 2004 i found AFAN!! out with the xc bike and in with the trail bike ( orange patriot ) i still like putting in the miles but iam not as fast as i was! i take a little more time taking in the views. love a good up and grin like a fu*ker on the way down !!
i ride on my own, but love it when my mates come with me. ive got a cool riding buddy at the mo( big up the goblinshimmer) always up for riding with new people tho!!
my best ride has got to be afan,,, whites level and the wall, great cafe to ( big up to mr luff for some good food) wales is just the best place to ride at the mo!!!!! but 2008 iam of to soctland!!! well thats me !!!!

just get out and ride

Hi, nice site
I'm LoneGroover (it seemed better than "Richard" after a few beers one night). I ride a Stumpy FSR 120 Pro, mainly trails, usually around the Surrey Hills (Pitch/Holmbury/Leith) as I live near Guildford. If I'm not riding there then I normally go to Swinley, with the occasional trip away to Wales. I just got back from my first trip to "real" mountains in Whistler which blew me away completely. The toughest and most fun riding I've ever had So I'm now trying to learn to do some proper jumps rather than the overgrown hops I normally do.
I normally go riding with local mates or through the Diary of a Mountain Biker forum who are a friendly bunch and have showed me loads of good trails.

Richard

Welcome to the site. Good trails I have done a bit of Leith Hill and a cross country race at Swinley a little while back that destroyed me. Whistler is on the radar so am dead envious. I also rise a stumpy fsr 120 which is a great bike. You should check our PORC if you are looking for some tougher jumps or Chicksands if you can make it north of London. Hope you enjoy the site.

Hi Dan,

What/where is PORC?

If you're heading to Whistler I went with Ticket2RideBC and would recommend them. I did the XC holiday, and the XC was very technical by UK standards (which suited me). Having said that, if I were to go back I might just spend the week in the bike park. I'd never been to a bike park before and it was awesome. The one thing I would do differently would be to hire a bike out there. I took my Stumpy over and felt distinctly underbiked.
