I hit an unexpected one (yes, not concentrating or looking ahead - bad, bad riding) recently at speed. Panicked and ended up doing a half-arsed manual, thinking I would be better off trying to clear it and land on two wheels. Instead I ended up turning in the air, landing the bike sideways on my front wheel and landing myself squarely on my face.

So that's how not to ride a slab

Yep, weight back and not too heavy on the brakes - lock a wheel and you'll destabilise yourself
