If it is a XC day you are looking for with a number of different terrains (and bogs !!) Rivington (near Bolton) is as good a place as any.
It is where the commonweath games track was, and Bolton is a good night out.
I can arrange a long Sunday ride with a more interesting Saturday ride if that is waht the masses wants.

Unfortunatly the picture is not of me, although is bears a close resembleance when in Lets Gets this year I tried to do a double for the first time, hit the up ramp on the second hump, buried the front wheel, went flying and cracked three ribs.

There is a video somewhere, which I will try and dig out and upload.

new hear, and new to riding as i said in my welcome post, have been mainly riding the dark peak, longdendale and llangedla(can never spell that right),

however i live right around the corner from rivington, and would be well up for a ride around rivington, we can get out most sundays, thats me and the couple i ride with, unfortunatly sats are out for me as i play hockey and cricket,

and who said bolton was a good night out, you ever been anywhere else, like manchester
