Skidding. Art, menace or skill...basically it’s the same as cornering except as you enter the corner you put on your back brake and it will slide out. 
Practice to know at what point you reach wipe out. Time practising this will give you 2 great benefits. Firstly if you are over the age of 14 you will be transported back ,whatever age you are and secondly you will gain familiarity at what it is like as well as confidence when doing fast cornering on the trails when your back wheel naturally (with no brake) slides out at speed as your carve a powerful yet beautiful turn.
A small word of caution...if done near braking bumps and jumps/ drops it can really break up the trail and cause frustration to other riders. So as with all riding, please respect the trail, respect other riders and only skid where damage can't be caused. Skidding really is funSmile

    2007-09-1322:53:28 a useful skill on fast tight corners but can really mess up the trails if done in the wrong place..
