Chris Doyle from Pennsylvania takes us through a host of bike tricks for the jump park. He's been riding for ten years and his experience shines through.   Here he take us through the X Up, the One Handed X Up, the Seat Grab X Up and the One Footed X Up.

  • Approach the jump with plenty of speed. Enough to clear it and maybe a bit more to give you extra height to give you the time to do the X Up.
  • Start the X Up at the peak of your jump
  • Turn the handlebars moving your arms into the shape of an X and then come round and land.
  • Turn whichever way is most comfortable
  • Be sure not to start the X Up before the peak of the jump, otherwise it is hard to level out and get the nose down.
  • Keep your knees together, not out and above the seat.
  • Once you have mastered the X Up you can try other variations (see below).
  • The one handed X Up should be one smooth action where as your turn your handlebars you take your hand off and as you come round the hand goes back on.
  • Similarly with the Seat Grab and the One footed X Up the action should be one smooth movement.
  • For the Seat grab it can help (but not essential) to pinch your seat with your legs
  • For the One Footed X Up use which ever foot is leading to come off and return.
  • Wear body armour and a helmet.Have fun
