Blog service is relaunched

Posted by: stumpy_dan in Untagged  on

Folks,

Last night I completely overhauled the blog service. Hurrah I hear you shout! ;)The main differences occur when writing blogs which now have a much smoother interface and simpler integrated dashboard.

Headed down to Swinley on Sunday with Gareth (i4_uk) and met up with Tom (Tomallan) some of his mates (the two Dave's and Travis) from the friendly EppingHardCru folks..

Little Switzerland in the Carmel Mountains

Posted by: stumpy_dan in Untagged  on

This was a lovely trail ride in the green and hilly region of the Carmel Mountains near Haifa in Israel. I would classify it as an easy to moderate ride by UK classification standards due mainly to it's distance (@35k) and numerous climbs, rather than technical sections. There are options for smooth (slightly rocky) terrain on the easy side but there is also the the option for some much harder technical sweet short sections that if you do either up or down are very rocky with a number of drops and no clear visible line to navigate

Sweet Downhill Mountain Biking in the Eilat Mountains

I was taken by surprise as to how naturally technical and varied the downhill riding is here, combined with just how many miles of sweet flowing singletrack there is available on the doorstep of Eilat.

Today was a great day:). First real taste of desert riding! I rode a Mongoose with a shorter stem than my stumpjumper and I preferred it as it gave more cornering control. It actually a cool bike that is loads of fun. I might do a seperate write up on it.

Right me bag is packed and I'm ready to go;) Hurrah!!! As you may or may not know by now I am off for ten days to do some desert riding in Eilat and the Sinai between Israel and Jordan. My guide Eyal has been recommended by Jack Sheardon who runs the IMBA (International Mountain Biking association in Israel).

I arrive in Tel Aviv tomorrow and fly down to Eilat on Friday ready to do a desert trail ride on the Saturday followed by some downhilling on Sunday and then again

Folks,

I was sitting in a cafe this morning with my full carb breakfast feeling a little bit worse for wear after last night New Year's eve festivities;)

I had picked up the latest MBR (Mountain Bike Rider) magazine in my post this morning and had it with me, looking forward to reading it over brunch.

Flicking through,

Folks,

Dead chuffed as in this months IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) newsletter ibikeride has been featured:)

Here's the excerpt

"Life Is An Adventure Or Nothing At All - says Daniel Mintz"
Daniel Mintz has set up a new website

Over the last 7 years one of the key ingredients to surviving the physical endurance of the weekend riding frenzy that forces me to steal most daylight hours on a saddle (well once I have surfaced that is;).....is the daily commute on my bike to work.

As I work for myself my clients can be all over and outside London. So sometimes my commute is 10 miles, sometimes 5 and sometimes more.
The journey in is a key opportunity

Gravil Pit Spring The Fifty

I wrote to the Newhall guys again asking what they were planning on using the pland for as they had refused the request to turn it into a bike park..

Their response below gives me more hope in the sense that I now have a new contact the "Residents Association" to negotiate with.  I will see  if people who actually live on the estate can give me a better introduction into the residency association as it is formed
