Nightride - 3rd April '08

Posted by: penfolduk in Untagged  on

Last night I went on one of Bigfoot Bike Club's weekly nightrides.  My god it was fun, however getting home and to bed for 00:45 and up and in work for 08:00 doesn't do much for the old energy levels.

Anyway meet at the shop for a 20:00 set off, normally get there for 19:30 and have a natter with BigfootMark but he's not there yet this week.  19:45 and Ian turns up, two bikes on the roof rack.  I was

Well as you probably all know I am taking part in this years 24/12.  I did say I would have to improve my fitness by getting out and riding more.  However if I am honest I haven't been out as much as I probably should (sure BigfootMark will agree - I will say it before you do Mark).  What you probably arent aware of is that I am doing the 24/12 with Mark, although he is on the reserve team because he just isn't upto the

Bontrager TwentyFour12 2008

I decided last year I really wanted to do some form of event, wasn't sure what event or anything halfway to be organised like that.  I just decided I wanted to do an event of some sort to do with biking.  First of all it was the Manchester Rat Race, then it was another marathon event.  Both of which never actually

Swinley by Train

Posted by: penfolduk in Untagged  on

Went for a ride at Swinley Forest ( http://www.gorrick.com/swinley/ ) and decided to try getting there by train.

So woke up at 08:30 got dressed in my riding gear packed my bag with the neceserry flapjacks and bananas along with any spare tools, innertubes etc I might need for a typical days riding. Left the flat (in Blackheath area) and rode to Lewisham to meet my mate Mark on the 09:27 from Lewisham into

New bike take 2

As some of you are probably aware I had a Gary Fisher Hifi Deluxe (07) on order from Evans.  However there was a problem with the forks, don't ask me how they manage to damage a set of fork when transporting it from one store to the warehouse!

Anyway I just went into Evans to try and sort it all out and ended up walking out of there with a Trek Top Fuel 8 (07) for the misely sum of £1000 instead of £1600rrp

Decided on my new bike!

Posted by: penfolduk in Untagged  on

Finally came to a decision as to what bike I am going to get now.  I can proudly announce I will be getting a Gary Fisher Hifi Deluxe (07).

Off to Evans (boooooo) this lunch time to put a deposit down on the bike and get it delivered to the Waterloo Road store.

Can't bloody wait!

Phil

What new bike?????

Posted by: penfolduk in Untagged  on

Here it is.  In August I was knocked off my bike on my commute home from work, the offending driver failed to stop to exchange details.  After a couple of months of no news from the Met's finest (ha) I decided to ring them only to be told they have closed the case.  Not only that I learn't after asking why they said we explained in the letter.  I got no letter as it turned out they sent it to the wrong address :D .&

South Downs route

South Downs Map

We start this route in a lay-by on the A26 by Itford farm and Southease Railway Station. It's big enough for about 5-6 cars I would say.

Once you have got yourself ready, leave the car south and there is a track leading off the road on your left. You
